Do I get a discount if I bring my own gear?2018-11-24T21:35:26+00:00

We’re afraid not, and if you’re just starting out, then we prefer that you use soft surfboards.

Are we at risk of any marine wildlife, i.e. sharks, jellyfish etc?2018-11-24T21:32:23+00:00

We get the odd jelly-fish surge at certain times of the year but none are dangerous. If you are stung it won’t feel worse than a nettle sting. We do get crabs but again extremely unlikely you will come across one. And, for those of you who still have nightmares about Jaws, you’re more likely to get attacked by a shoal of seaweed so fear not.

What if the surf is completely flat or absolutely massive?2018-11-24T21:31:44+00:00
No, Under no circumstances will we take anyone in the water if it is unsafe or if there is no possibility of catching waves due to the lack of surf. We’ll contact you and re-schedule.
What do I do if I don’t feel confident in the sea or the surf is big?2018-11-24T21:30:53+00:00

We never take our clients out any deeper than waist depth, and although Saunton is by far the safest beach to learn to surf on in the area, we don’t want you to spend the whole time scared. Our aim is for you to enjoy your lesson, and we will accommodate your needs.

Will I get cold doing a long surf lesson?2018-11-24T21:24:30+00:00

We supply winter wetsuits to all our clients to ensure you are warm and comfortable. The chances of getting cold are reduced significantly but lessons in the colder months are a little shorter and also less busy.

What do I do about my Contact Lenses?2018-11-24T21:23:56+00:00

We’ve been told that if you wear disposable ones, you are okay. Otherwise, wear an old pair and close your eyes tightly when underwater and maybe think about using swim goggles, although we can’t guarantee this is foolproof.

Do I need to book or can I just turn up?2018-11-24T21:23:24+00:00

It helps if we know you’re coming, but we’ll always do our best to fit you in, so give us a call – and you’ll notice we ask how long you’re around for in our online booking form. This is because waves are fickle things and we’d rather be a bit more flexible so you get the best experience.
